Khaliya Top is a snow-covered alpine meadow at a staggering altitude of 3500 meters of the Kumaon Himalayas. The spot is located near Munsiyari in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand.
Khaliya or Khuliya top is a hidden gem in the mountains of the Kumaon range of the Himalayas. Though Khaliya top trek is not unheard of among trek lovers, it is not very much popular like other famous summit climbing treks in Uttarakhand. Yet, the outstanding views of mountain peaks, steep climbing through dense forest, exotic mountain animals, and birds's sightings, pristine white snow even in the summer adorn the trail of this trek. These make the trek a special one among the list of many.
Khaliya Top trek distance is 15 km from Munsiyari. The actual trek begins from a location named Balati Bend (Khaliya dwar), From Balati Bend trekking of nearly 6km will take you to the Khaliya top. The trek is classified as an easy trek, though there are some parts of steep ascents.

Weather & Best Season

Summer (April–June):
Pleasant trekking conditions with daytime temperatures between 12°C and 20°C. Evenings can be chilly, so light woolens are recommended.

Winter (November–February):
Ideal for snow trekking. Expect temperatures between 0°C to -10°C. The snow-covered landscape transforms the trail into a winter wonderland.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01 : Arrival at Munsyari from Haldwani/Kathgodam
This is a small and easy trek of only 6 km. the five famous peaks namely Panchachuli, Hardeol, Rajrambha, Nandakot and Nanda devi are clearly visible from here and this makes it an amazing experience for even a first time trekkers.
• Early start from Haldwani/Kathgodam at 6:00 AM
• 275-280 KM Drive
• 10/11 Hours of traveling, expected arrival time at Munsyari is 4:00 PM
• Accommodation and food in Guest House/Hotel/Homestay

Day 02 : Start from Munsyari to Balati Band & Balati Band to Bhujani Base Camp
• After taking morning breakfast, leave for Balati
• Band/Khaliya Dwar (starting point of trek)
• 8 KM Drive from Munsyari & 2.8 KM Hike
• Altitude gain from 2100 mts to 3220 mts
• 2 or 2.5 hrs of trekking
• Camping at Bhujani (Khaliya Top Base Camp)
• Accommodation & food in tents.

Day 03 : Early in the morning after taking breakfast, leave Bhujani Base Camp
• Trek for 3 KM and reach the summit. Explore the 360° view of Munsyari and it's surrounding from zero point.
• A lesser-known spot distanced from the khaliya top is the zero point. The zero point (3720 mts) is the highest patch of terrain in Munsyari.
• it offers an unparalled birdseye view of the Himalayan peaks of Bainti, Telkot, Nagling, Rajrambha along with the Panchachuli mountains.
• Beyond these peaks is hidden another mesmerizing mountains, with a keen eye you can spot the highest peak of Gurans Himal, Mt. Api, situated at the tibetian border.
• If the weather is favourable, a trek of around 1.5kms from Khaliya top to the zero point will be undertaken.

After taking in the panoramic and unforgettable views from the zero point and the khaliya Top, you will have to descend to your respective tents after reach base camp taking lunch, after lunch start trekking back to the base camp located at Balati Band (Khaliya Dwar)
• Altitude gain from 3220 mts to 3720 mts, then descend to 2100 mts
• 8.5 kms trekking
• 6 hours of trekking
• Reach the summit and then return to the summit and then return to the base camp for lunch.
• After lunch, descend down to Balati Band (Khaliya Dwar) to Munsyari
• Reach Munsyari by evening
• Accommodation & food in Guest House/Hotel/Homestay



Day 04 : Munsyari to Haldwani/Kathgodam

• 275-280 KM Drive, approx 10 Hours, travel back from Munsyari to Haldwani/Kathgodam.
• You will be dropped at Haldwani/Kathgodam bus station or railway station in a pre-booked vehicle or cab.
